How to play French Warri

French Warri, also called Round-and-Round, uses the same board as Antiguan Warri: 12 pits, 4 seeds in each. Sowing keeps going until your last seed lands in an empty pit.

Sowing

Pick up all the seeds in one pit on your side and sow them one at a time into the following pits.

  • If your last seed lands in a pit that already has seeds, pick up that whole pit, including the seed you just dropped, and keep sowing.
  • Your turn ends when your last seed lands in an empty pit.

Capturing

  • When your turn ends in an empty pit, you capture the seeds in the pit directly opposite it. This works on either side of the board.
  • The seed that ended your turn stays where it landed.

Feeding

  • If your opponent's side is empty, you must make a move that gives them seeds.
  • If no move can do that, you take all the seeds left on the board and the game ends.

Winning

  • The first player to capture 25 or more seeds wins.
  • If both players finish with 24, the game is a draw.
  • A match is one game. You can also offer a draw or resign.
